Singing student from Dresden wins ARD music competition

A singing student from the Dresden University of Music won the ARD International Music Competition.

“We are very proud of the performance of our vocal student Anastasiya Taratorkina and congratulate her warmly on this great success at the ARD International Music Competition,” said Axel Köhler, Rector of the Dresden University of Music, following the awarding of the first prize and the audience prize to the Russian vocal student.

The soprano Anastasiya Taratorkina has been studying singing in Professor Hendrikje Wangemann’s class on the Master’s degree programme in Opera since September 2020. She won over the jury at the final of the 70th ARD International Music Competition on Saturday at the Prinzregentheater in Munich. She beat 368 competitors, eight of whom were admitted to the semi-finals.

Taratorkina recently won a 2021 Germany Scholarship from Baywobau Dresden, organised by the Friends, Sponsors and Alumni of the Dresden University of Music, and was a participant in the 2019 TV project “Grand Opera” in Russia. Before taking up the Master’s programme at the Dresden University of Music, she studied at the Glinka Conservatory in Novosibirsk from 2014 to 2019.
